Small and Medium Businesses Want Employees with These Skills
You may already be comfortable in the job you're in, but it's important to keep learning new skills—and this is especially important if you want to negotiate for better pay or if you're planning to shift to another company.
According to professional network LinkedIn, small and medium businesses are hiring more professionals who have technology-related skills. Experience in the following areas are quite in-demand:
- Graphic design
- Social media
- User experience design
- Email management
- Virtual assistance
- React native
- Back-end web development
- Data visualization
In fact, SMBs are often recruiting younger talent as they are thought of to be more savvy in these areas. Members of Gen Y (or those born from 1980 to 1994) "make up 77 percent of SMB employees," which means that as long as you keep on upgrading your skills, you definitely rise above the competitive hiring market.
You can always sign up for workshops or short courses if you wish to learn more and stay relevant, but if you want to go all the way, you can always apply for a graduate school program or a master's degree. Check out our life guide on how this Pinay studied in and successfully got a job abroad:
