Online men’s health service GoRocky.ph has announced that it has raised $2 million in seed funding as it continues its quest to break the stigma and shame linked to men’s health issues such as erectile dysfunction and hair loss. That’s about P116 million to work with as the startup aims to expand its services for a client base that has already surpassed 30,000 since it set up shop in 2022.

In a news release, GoRocky said the funding was sourced from Singaporean venture capital firm Integra Partners and local early stage venture capital company Kaya Founders. The fresh investment paves the way for the platform to become the number one online space for chronic care in the country to help Filipinos manage their health from the ground up.

GoRocky is a platform that offers accessible, affordable, a fully personalized healthcare avenue for Filipinos suffering from chronic conditions that are often difficult to seek treatment for due to these issues being seen as embarrassing to talk about or to even approach medical professionals for.

With the substantial funding, the platform is also keen on expanding its chronic care services to address issues like obesity, diabetes, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and hypertension that affects millions of Filipinos yearly. Conditions such as obesity are often linked to more life-threatening conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and an increased susceptibility to heart attacks.

GoRocky also offers a service called GoSlim that offers doctor-approved plans to make weight loss safer and simpler.

“Ultimately, we’re treating the root causes of conditions. Our mission is simple: simplify care. That means more access, higher convenience, and better health for consumers,” GoRocky CEO Kiyanusch Braun said. “The future will see a new normal: maximum convenience from home—doctor consultations, a care team, and personalized prescription delivery within days, at a fraction of the cost of outdated traditional care.”

GoRocky from the start set a goal to provide a more discreet and affordable approach to healthcare solutions, with the platform noting that about 14 million Filipino men in the country suffer from erectile dysfunction, 16 million deal with hair loss, while another 15 million grapple with skincare issues.

But even considering these statistics, only a fraction of these men seek treatment to avoid the difficult conversations and shame that is associated with these perennial conditions.

At GoRocky.ph, men only have to fill out an anonymous questionnaire, which will be evaluated by the platform’s doctors before prescribing appropriate treatment and medication.

The discreet approach also comes in the form of end-to-end telehealth services from consultation, prescription and delivery via a wide network of licensed independent doctors.

“I have a clinic in Makati and I get patients coming in person to discuss these issues, and they never come out with that issue first,” Mark McKelvie, chief medical officer at GoRocky, earlier told a panel on men’s sexual issues. “Of course, they don't want to talk about it. No one wants to have to go to see their doctor for anything, let alone (to say) 'I have erectile dysfunction.'”
