Jollibee Times Square to Open in the Heart of NYC on August 18

OFWs, Fil-Ams, NYC locals, and Filipino tourists are in for a surprise—Jollibee is opening at the heart of New York City on August 18, right in the middle of the iconic Times Square. 

In March 2021, Esquire Philippines was one of the first local publications to catch onto Jollibee’s plans to open in Times Square after NYC real estate news reported on the company’s 7,127-square-foot lease at 1500 Broadway. 

Over a year later, the reports turned out to be true as Jollibee Times Square will be ready for customers by next week. Jollibee Times Square is one of the many new international branches of Jollibee Group as the now-international conglomerate pushes its aggressive overseas expansion. In the first half of 2022, Jollibee Food Corp. opened 230 stores worldwide and reported P73.1 billion in system-wide sales. 

Times Square is a global commercial and entertainment hub, and Jollibee’s location on 1500 Broadway is situated right next to Good Morning America and the location where the New Year’s Eve Ball Drop occurs every year. 

“We are excited to spread the joy of eating to everyone and contribute to the diverse and exciting food scene in Times Square,” shared Maribeth Dela Cruz, Jollibee Group’s President for Philippine Brands (Jollibee, Chowking, and Red Ribbon) in North America.

Jollibee Times Square is the company’s third branch in New York City. The first, located in Queens, opened in 2009, and the second, located along 8th Avenue, opened in 2018. The next NYC branch will be located at 14 East 42nd Street between Madison and Fifth Avenue, near Grand Central Terminal. The fourth branch is expected to open by the end of 2023. 

Jollibee Times Square now joins the list of 84 Jollibee locations in North America. Jollibee Group aims to have over 500 stores in North America in the next five to seven years.
