Mosaic Solutions—a rising startup providing tech solutions mainly for food businesses, retailers and malls—has announced the acquisition of fellow local tech startup HelixPay as well as a strategic partnership with payments powerhouse Paymongo. The move strengthens and expands Mosaic Solutions’ current suite of products and services—including payments, analytics, business and cost management, marketing services and even access to capital—and centralizes these offerings into one platform, whichĀ the company says will ā€œseamlessly connect in-store and digital operations for businesses across all consumer sections.ā€

ā€œThe Philippine market is seeing massive growth in consumer spending,ā€ Mosaic Solutions founder and CEO Brett Doyle told Esquire Philippines. ā€œThe country needs technology tools to help businesses in these sectors (F&B, Retail, Entertainment/Experiences) keep up with this growth.Ā

ā€œBringing together our respective strengths, including payments and payment-related technology from PayMongo, ecommerce and order management (including ticketing) from HelixPay, and our core operating systems, helps to solve these problems withĀ one unified platform, rather than having to use multiple tools to try to solve these problems,ā€ he added. ā€œThis eliminates the problems associated with this piecemeal approach and helps to expand our vision of beingĀ the key ingredient to sustainable, data-driven success for our clients in F&B, hospitality and retailĀ across the consumer-facing sectors in the Philippines.ā€Ā

According to Mosaic Solutions, the move will simplify business operations in the Philippines by streamlining payment through a single POS terminal—from tap-to-pay to QR payments—without additional hardware. This unified system, in turn, connects with online operations, allowing businesses a complete view of their inventory and customers across all sales channels.

The platform also provides real-time insights so owners and operators can make more intelligent business decisions.

Mosaic Solutions declined to reveal the value of the acquisition.

Background of Mosaic Solutions’ acquisition of HelixPay

Doyle said the acquisition of HelixPay—a fintech startup perhaps best known for its ticketing platform but that also offers services such as recurring payments and subscriptions—emerged organically from partnership and product integration discussions that started in the first half of 2024. These talks then evolved into acquisition discussions by the third quarter of the same year, especially after he and HelixPay co-founder Andrew Koger realized an alignment in their vision and the market pain points they sought to solve through their platforms.Ā

ā€œI have been consistent in my vision for Mosaic over the years and in talking about the need for us to evolve Mosaic Solutions to be a true business management solution and commerce enablement platform built around integrated payments processing, improved access to capital for our clients, especially SMEs, leveraging POS data and payment processing technology to drive this, and integrated order management through an ecosystem of partners,ā€ Doyle said. ā€œHelixPay fits a key part of this overall strategy through their strengths in ecommerce and order management (including ticketing), in addition to allowing us to provide our core products into adjunct consumer sectors, giving us coverage across the key sectors driving economic growth in the Philippines. Additionally, there are newer business lines for HelixPay such as advertising on tickets and marketing services, which are natural touchpoints for the businesses and solve real needs for our client base.ā€Ā

Doyle said that it helped that he and Koger have known each other for years and previously had other partnership discussions. ā€œThat mutual trust is a MUST in a transaction like this where it includes companies that we have built from the ground up—and, most importantly, the people who have sacrificed over the years to get us both to this point and believe in us as leaders and founders,ā€ he said.Ā

Mosaic Solutions’s acquisition of HelixPay brings together more than P4 billion in annualized transaction value. Both are backed by some of the biggest and most well-known group of strategic and financial investors, including the ACTIVE Fund, Gentree Fund, Foxmont Capital Partners, Sierra Madre, Oak Drive Ventures, Tenco Capital, Investible, PayMongo, and others.Ā

Meanwhile, the partnership with Paymongo followed a similar trajectory. Doyle said he first met Jojo Malolos in 2017, way before he became Paymongo president and CEO.

ā€œThat connection and true alignment in vision with him (and chairman and co-founder Luis Sia) really helped to accelerate those discussions and made it clear PayMongo is the right partner for us to help accelerate our evolution and growth this year,ā€ Doyle said. ā€œFurther proof of that is seeing the amazing turnaround of PayMongo over the last two years under Jojo and Luis, reinventing PayMongo and showing how progressive and forward-thinking they are now. We want to learn from them and work with them to drive similar growthĀ forĀ Mosaic.ā€

Asked about the specific value of the partnership, Doyle said PayMongo provides the technology for Mosaic’s white-labelled payment processing and efficient onboarding of merchants, including all the needed APIs.Ā

ā€œThey also will continue to expand our integrated payments offering by providing a ā€˜tap to pay’ (for credit/debit cards) solution integrated within our POS terminal,ā€ he said. ā€œThis will be a big differentiator relative to the current offering in the market. We are aligned on ensuring we have the right product to help support the SMEs that really drive this economy—and helping to ensure they have sustainable, growing businesses.ā€Ā

ā€œThe future of commerce in the Philippines is being reshaped,ā€ Sia said in a statement. ā€œThrough this partnership, we’re building technology that enables businesses to sell smarter, get paid faster, and scale without friction.ā€
