Tycoon Kevin Tan is adding another important title to his resume. The 45-year-old businessman, who already holds the position of executive vice president and chief strategy officer of listed Megaworld Corp., has been named executive director of the property development company. According to a disclosure with the Philippine Stock Exchange, Tan replaces his mother, Katherine Tan, who relinquished her position as a member of the company’s board of directors.Â
The appointment further strengthens Tan’s role within the company, placing him in an even pivotal position to lead and shape the real estate arm of Alliance Global Group, Inc. (AGI) in the future.

In addition to this new role, Tan wears multiple hats within the conglomerate: he is vice chairman, president and CEO of AGI; chairman of Travellers International Hotel Group; the operator of Newport World Resorts, and president of MREIT, Inc., while holding directorships in Emperador, Inc., Golden Arches Development Corp., the master franchise holder of McDonald’s in the Philippines, and Global-Estate Resorts, Inc. (GERI).Â

An astute businessman who is part of a new breed of tycoons, Tan is leading a conglomerate that is redefining the real estate, hospitality, and food and beverage industries in the Philippines. In August, for instance, Tan opened Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill at Newport World Resorts, the first restaurant in the Philippines to carry the name of the celebrity chef. Tan was also in the news recently for having signed a deal with American electric vehicle company Tesla, which is set to launch its flagship showroom in Uptown Bonifacio in Taguig later this year. AGI’s hotel and resorts arm also opened the Grand Westside Hotel in Westside City, which currently holds the title for largest hotel in the Philippines.
In addition, Tan also led the unveiling of a new theater for Repertory Philippines in Eastwood City. This will soon be followed by the opening of the country’s first Grand Opera House in 2026 in Westside City in Parañaque City.Â
