Who Is Vico Sotto, Millennial Mayor of Pasig?

Vico Sotto may have had very famous parents, but he himself eluded fame. He was thrust in the spotlight when he ran for and became Pasig City councilor in 2016. Born on June 17, 1989, Vico—his nickname a portmanteau of his parents' Vic Sotto and Coney Reyes—will have just turned 30 when he starts his new position as mayor. His election toppled the 27-year reign of the Eusebio family in the city.
His Instagram page is filled with his family life, and the millennial mayor is quick to cite his parents as influences.

His mom is seasoned actress Coney Reyes, who, in one of her interviews with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) described her son as God-fearing.
Coney said, "He had the heart for the poor. Yung sa tama palagi ang gusto niyang gawin. Kasi kahit ako, kapag meron akong ginawang hindi maganda, talagang kino-correct niya ako. So I thank God for allowing me to discipline my son even as a young boy."

On Instagram, he mentioned how she was a big part of his childhood and that she was his "alarm clock" for 26 years. He added, "The one who made sure the back of my shirt was tucked in for every important occasion."
"A superhuman who pushed through fatigue, illness, and pain...Always going above and beyond the call of duty," he wrote. He thanked her for "the four decades of selfless love" that she gave to his family, ending with "EMY, I LOVE YOU, more than I ever let you know. We will miss you dearly."
Vico also consistently talks about his siblings, showing a closeness to his large family.
