Challenge Accepted: Black-and-White Photos of Inspiring Filipino Women on Your Instagram
Who hasn't noticed the slew of black-and-white photos that have been populating our Instagram and Facebook feeds these past few days?
Captioned “Challenge accepted,” women all over the world have been posting flattering, filtered portraits of themselves on social media, and we must say, they are gorgeous.

It's unclear what started the trend. Some believe it went viral after Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez made that impassioned speech in U.S. Congress.
Others say it was adopted by Turkish women to raise awareness of femicide in Turkey, triggered by the murder of Pinar Gultekin by an ex-partner.
A representative from Instagram told The New York Times the earliest post of the old hashtag #womensupportingwomen recurring in this cycle was a week and a half ago by a Brazilian journalist.
And while some eye-rolling, self-proclaimed non-conformists have been posting, “Sorry, challenge not accepted” or “Paano ba talaga kayo na-challenge?”, well, fine, don't do it. We see nothing wrong with photographs of beautiful women filling our feeds in this tough time.
The comments on the “challenge accepted” posts, mostly from other women, are positive, uplifting, and empowering. “Gorgeous.” “Stunning.” “Beautiful inside and out.” Or just hearts. Hearts. And more hearts.
