These Banks Are Temporarily Suspending Operations Due to Flooding

Severe flooding brought by Typhoon Carina, enhanced by the southwest monsoon, has forced several companies and businesses to temporarily shut down operations. These include major financial institutions, which have shortened their operating hours in the aftermath of the typhoon.

Below are the banks that have announced the temporary closure of several branches as of Thursday, July 25:

BDO Unibank

A total of 89 branches nationwide are still closed to the public, based on an advisory released by BDO Unibank. Most of these are located in Metro Manila, while the others are in Bulacan, Rizal, Benguet, and Ilocos Sur.

Meanwhile, regular operating hours apply for open branches.

Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI)

BPI has shut down 33 branches, including 10 in Metro Manila and 23 in North Luzon.

Customers can check the list of open branches via its website. Operating hours are from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. However, branches located within a mall compound or business park may have different schedules, according to BPI.

Metrobank

As for Metrobank, 65 branches were reported closed in the metro and parts of Luzon as of 9 a.m.

Security Bank

Thirteen Security Bank branches remain closed to customers in Metro Manila and Bulacan; while 11 have shortened their banking hours in select areas in Luzon, ceasing operations between 12 noon and 2 p.m.

Security Bank says the following branches will open late to serve its clients on Thursday: Divisoria Sto. Cristo, Roman Square, Quezon Avenue-West Triangle, and Congressional Tower.

Robinsons Bank

Robinsons Bank, merged with BPI, has suspended the operations of 11 of its branches in Metro Manila, Bulacan, and Pampanga. 

Land Bank of the Philippines (Land Bank)

State-run Land Bank of the Philippines has advised its clients of the closure of 77 branches in Luzon—28 are from Metro Manila; 44 in Southern Luzon; and five in North and Northeast Luzon. 

Operating hours were also adjusted in some branches in Luzon, with banks already closed around 12 noon to 1 p.m.

These, on the other hand, are the Land Bank branches accessible to the public.

Customers affected by the temporary closures of these banks may still avail of their services through online or mobile banking, as well as ATMs.

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas earlier reported certain banking services would be unavailable on July 25, including the clearing of checks, processing of currency-related transactions, trading of fixed income and forex (USD/PHP), and other operations concerning the Philippine Payment and Settlement System (PhilPaSS). Customers may likewise experience delays in fund crediting via PESONet. These apply to all banks, following the suspension of work in government offices in Metro Manila, the BSP said.
