A recent survey conducted by Pulse Asia revealed that 61 percent of Filipinos are hesitant or against receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. Lack of information, compounded by misleading reports on the safety of COVID-19 vaccines and the social trauma caused by the Dengvaxia issue years ago may have contributed to vaccine hesitancy among Filipinos.

This is why the government is tapping the private sector for help. Grab Philippines is among the companies working closely with the Department of Health (DOH) to improve the country's pandemic response. The company recently announced the launch of GrabBayanihan, a vaccination support program that aims to increase vaccine access and education for Filipinos. The program includes a range of measures to encourage Filipinos to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

The DOH has partnered with the company to arrest vaccine hesitancy among the population. To do this, Grab Philippines will publish vaccine information within the Grab app. The company will also host workshops and town halls to educate its partners on the benefits of getting vaccinated.

Pre- and post-vaccination consultation will also be provided to partners to help identify their comorbidity status and connect them with their local governments for inoculation.

COVID-19 Snap Survey

To help governments better understand the public sentiment around vaccines, Grab Philippines will launch a COVID-19 Snap Survey. The survey will enable the DOH to conduct lightning polls to gather real-time data on vaccine sentiment. This will help authorities tailor their vaccine strategies according to the needs of the public.

Discounted Services for Vaccinations

On top of providing free vaccinations for its partners and their families, Grab Philippines will also work closely with the national and local governments to leverage its ground fleet network for logistics support for their respective vaccination programs. The company has mobilized a specialized fleet of vaccinated driver-partners to provide discounted services for frontliners, senior citizens, and high-risk individuals going to and from vaccination centers.
