Quezon City Police Held Random Inspections in Katipunan Establishments

In August last year, the Philippine National Police (PNP) took its campaign against illegal drugs to the high-end clubs and bars in Taguig and Makati. At that time, the PNP implied that they would eventually implement the same practice in other areas of Metro Manila. Well, that day has also come for Quezon City.
On Wednesday night, September 13, several police officers were spotted along Katipunan Avenue in Quezon City. They reportedly went inside establishments in the area and randomly checked the bags of people inside.
Some concerned citizens—mostly parents and college-aged students from schools in the area (Ateneo de Manila University, Miriam College, and University of the Philippines Diliman)—were alarmed by what happened. But, apparently, Quezon City Police Department Station 9 dismissed this as "perfectly legal."
