Bigboy Cheng Unboxes His Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1

DJ Bigboy Cheng is one of the country’s most influential pop art gallery owners and street fashion icons bar none. His penchant for high value streetwear is just insane. A couple of years ago, he dropped a pair of Air Dior-dans for a whopping P850,000. Just like Thanos, he just needs to snap his finger to make things happen.

Cheng has a hugely popular following on social media not just because he can get his hands on any streetwear label no one else can get but he also has the gift of storytelling, ably conveying and making interesting even the most mundane things, like street food and collaborating with some of the biggest names in the art scene, to creating some of the most sought-after pop art collections in his Secret Fresh Art Gallery.

We featured the collaboration earlier this year, and this pair of sneakers is being auctioned off at Sotheby’s for over $110,000 or P6 million.
So what’s so special about this collab? For one, Virgil Abloh, who passed away in 2021, was an iconic American fashion designer and entrepreneur who was also the artistic director for the Louis Vuitton brand. He is also the CEO for the Milan- based Off-White label and was included by Time Magazine in its list of the world’s most influential people just before his passing.

Sotheby’s says that the Louis Vuitton and Nike expression of the “Air Force 1” by Virgil Abloh celebrates the 40th anniversary of the iconic Nike Air Force 1, which was designed in 1982 and is one of the most successful shoe models ever created. On the occasion of the Louis Vuitton Men’s Spring-Summer 2022 runway show, Virgil Abloh collaborated with Nike to design a very limited quantity of bespoke Air Force 1s, fusing the trainer’s classic codes with the insignia and materials of Louis Vuitton in homage to the hip-hop culture that shaped him.

Louis Vuitton made only 200 pairs, which are entirely made in leather and embellished with Louis Vuitton’s emblematic Monogram and Damier patterns with natural cowhide piping. Each pair comes with a Louis Vuitton pilot case, also from the Louis Vuitton Spring-Summer 2022 collection, which was reinterpreted from the Maison’s archive in an iconic orange colorway and made of Monogram Taurillon Leather. The pilot case features Louis Vuitton’s classic S lock closure in white metal finishing and includes a luggage tag in the shape of the Nike Swoosh. The pilot case adapts to every shoe size, based on an internal cushion system and was sold exclusively with this pair.
