This is the concept behind Modern Fox Barber & Lounge in Bonifacio Global City, which started its operations less than a year ago.
The barbershop is designed to cater to "busy, dapper professionals and businessmen who wish to escape stress in a convenient city location," says Lesley Espiritu-Villanueva, one of the business's founders.
Upon entering the shop, the bar immediately commands attention as the centerpiece, surrounded by a cozy lounge.
Unlike the typical barbershops in Manila, where a bar is an additional feature, the owners of Modern Fox designed the space in a way that integrates personal grooming, wellness, and relaxation seamlessly.
Imagine an English pub or Gentleman's Club featuring a striking deep red wall at the barber area, with black and gold accents tastefully arranged throughout the 60-square-meter space.
The shop offers a curated cocktail menu created by a mixologist consultant and serves drinks prepared by professionally trained baristas and bartenders.
Upon entering the shop, the first thing you'll notice is the bar, which takes up the very heart of the room. Surrounding it, a comfortable lounge area awaits, where clients can relax and enjoy carefully crafted coffee selections or signature cocktails. As you turn the corner, the barber area emerges, striking against a deep red wall, adorned with neon lights and old-school barbershop memorabilia.
The red color is striking, yet deep enough to create a luxurious and comfortable ambiance. Paired with warm browns and neutralizing grays, the interior is elegant but not pretentious.

The barbershop offers personal grooming and pampering services for both men and women. "You'd be surprised at how many women visit the shop for a haircut or blow-dry and hairstyling services. The trust of our male and female clientele attests to the quality of service our staff delivers," says Villanueva, adding that their staff receive technical training from third-party experts. Recently, it was award-winning barber Lui Packing who facilitated their team's training.
The rates are quite affordable. The Modern Fox Signature Cut, including shampoo, blow dry, shave, massage, and hot towel service reminiscent of old-school barbershops, is priced at P1,000. Haircare treatments range from P1,200 to P2,000; hand and foot care from P350 to P950; facials at P1,200; hair color from P1,300 to P4,500.

As the name suggests, Modern Fox is not just a barber, it is a barber and lounge, so expect mood lighting, lounge music, comfortable seats, and unique accents and details all around the shop to make it an interesting experience for their clients.
They don't only serve bottled drinks. They've hired a mixologist consultant to craft their cocktail menu and have professionally trained baristas and bartenders to prepare the drinks.
"A Negroni while getting a fade. A tall and refreshing Paloma while you are getting glammed up for a night out. A hot Americano while getting a mani/pedi…there are several combinations you can try out and enjoy," says Villanueva.
