It's Like a Pandora's Box of Pogi
Giltbox, formerly known as Saladbox, is the first and only grooming and style subscription service in the country. The carefully curated list of brands offers an innovative and more personalized approach to discovering new products as well as items that have been around albeit quietly.
The steps are easy: sign up on giltbox.ph, fill out a profile, then leave it to the experts to handpick products specifically for you, to be delivered to your doorstep. Every item has been approved by founder and managing director Paul Dimafelix, co-managing director Jay Marquez, and their team.
“For the Giltbox Man, each box contains up to eight products: a mix of grooming samples (for the hair, face, and body and fragrance) and lifestyle products such as, but not limited to, style accessories like pocket squares, knit ties, and bracelets, healthy snacks, and tech accessories (head set, phone accessories)," says Paul. "We will also offer limited edition boxes or kits, each targeting a certain lifestyle for the modern man.”
Men’s kits range from P600 to P1,800, and the monthly grooming subscription box is priced at P800. At these prices, it's a steal: Subscribers can expect up to P4,000+ value for a P800 price tag.
According to the owners, they have subscribers as young as 16 and up to 58 years old, but most are young professionals who don’t have much time to actively look for and discover new products.
“Men in general use whatever soap that’s available at home, use whatever shampoo that's there. Men, being creatures of habit, need some prodding about grooming essentials."
“Men in general use whatever soap [is] available at home, [they] use whatever shampoo that's there. Men, being creatures of habit, need some prodding about grooming essentials, and so we make useful videos, write articles on the benefit of using products meant for men,” explains Jay.
There are plans for Facebook Live sessions that will showcase Q&As about the products, while their new website is programmed to make recommendations based on one's grooming profile and preferences.
Jay adds that since the men's line started a year ago, customers have enjoyed accessories like pocket squares from Ginger and Aki, bracelets from En Pierre, and shades from blinq the most. "When it comes to grooming products, based on customer feedback, they like Man Pomade and Farmstay anti-aging snail moisturizer.”
Subscribers also have the option to choose one of the grooming samples or lifestyle products included in their monthly box via a feature called Sample Select.
Here's a peek at what's inside the Giltbox Man.
Benefit The POREfessional Primer
‘Benefit’s star primer can also be used by men, as it covers pores (men have large pores, so more oily skin) and gives the skin a matte finish.’
Glamglow Youthmud Tinglexfoliate Treatment Mask
‘This clay mask has hydrating, clearing, exfoliating, and anti-aging effects so it basically is an all-in-one mask for me. I also use this as spot treatment whenever I’m having a breakout.’
VMV Hypoallergenics Armada Sunscreen SPF 70
‘This sunscreen is lightweight, so it won't feel like you have something on your face (which men don’t like). No wonder this is one of VMV’s best-selling products.’
Man Pomade in Rock
‘This water-based pomade is as easy to remove as it is to apply.’
Azzaro Wanted Eau de Parfum
‘Azzaro’s newest launch has a manly scent that’s not too strong nor too musky.’
Farmstay Snail Cream
‘This facial moisturizer from Korea is popular among our subscribers.’
Benefit Gimme Brow
‘We definitely recommend Benefit's Gimme Brow product because it grooms and tames thick brows, and for those who have the lack of it, will help make it appear thicker.’
VMV Hypoallergenics 1635 Shave Cream No. 3
’As the brand name says, it will definitely not cause any skin allergic reactions.’
ToppCock Silver “Man Parts" Leave-on Hygiene Gel
‘It might sound new to some people but there’s actually a product to keep your Man Parts clean and fresh. It is a special gel that is easily absorbed by the skin.’
