Sales of This New Seiko Watch Will Help Save the Whiskered Pitta
For the past five years, Japanese watch brand Seiko has showcased the extraordinary wildlife and breathtaking landscapes of the Philippines through its Philippine Limited Edition collection. In its latest edition, Seiko puts the spotlight on the Whiskered Pitta, a rare bird species endemic to Luzon. Highly coveted by birdwatchers, this bird has a brownish head, blue breast, and red belly, complemented by its distinctive broad ash-colored malar or "whiskers." It thrives in mountainous areas and thus serves as a testament to the rich biodiversity of Philippine rainforests, particularly on the islands of Luzon, Samar, Leyte, and Mindanao.
Sadly, the bird species faces threats from habitat destruction and trapping. Currently listed as Near Threatened by the IUCN Red List, the new Seiko watch serves as a reminder of the urgent need to protect its habitat.
Available exclusively in the Philippines with only 1,288 pieces, the 5th Philippine Limited Edition Watch features an elegant design inspired by the vibrant Whiskered Pitta. It runs on the reliable 6R35 automatic movement, offering a 70-hour power reserve and precise timekeeping. The 39.5mm stainless steel case, paired with sapphire crystal, ensures clarity and durability. With a water resistance of up to 200 meters, a rotating compass inner ring, and a screw-down crown, it's ready for any adventure. The calfskin strap adds a refined touch, while the three-fold clasp with push-button release ensures a comfortable, secure fit.
With each purchase of the Seiko 5th Philippine Limited Edition Watch, a tree is planted in the Sierra Madre. This initiative, made possible in partnership with Fostering Education & Environment for Development, Inc. (FEED), aims to support the rehabilitation and reforestation of the Sierra Madre, the natural habitat of the Whiskered Pitta.

Aimed at creating a lasting positive impact on the environment, over 16 species—such as Malaruhat, Lipote, Kamagong, Bani, Kupang, Balobo, Dulita, and more—are being planted to enrich the local ecosystem.
