Tag Heuer and Porsche Hit the Road Again
Both Tag Heuer and Porsche have a rich and enduring history with motorsport. Both brands have flagship models called the Carrera.
Yet despite this, and the fact the watch and car worlds enjoy a close relationship, for one reason or another it took until 2021 for Tag Heuer and Porsche to cement their partnership.
For backstory, Tag Heuer launched its Carrera in 1964 – a landmark watch since it was first chronograph ever developed to time car racing. Porsche’s Carrera arrived a decade earlier, its name meaning both ‘race’ and ‘career’ in Spanish, implying that motorsport could become a profession. The first Porsche to carry its name was the four-cylinder 356 A. (Today’s instantly recognizable 911 Carreras being rather more slick and sporty-looking.)
The Carrera x Porsche partnership was announced two years ago with a pair of special edition chronographs, watches that took design cues from the cars (stitching on the straps that referenced Porsche interiors; an asphalt effect on the dial, and so on).
Further collaborations followed. The Tag Heuer Connected Porsche Edition Calibre E4 which cleverly made a link between the car brand’s electric Taycan family and the watch company’s successful line of smart watches.
Another special edition to mark the Porsche Carrera RS 2.7’s 50th anniversary arrived last year.
Now there’s a new collab – the Tag Heuer Carrera Chronograph x Porsche Orange Racing.

Building on the 2021 models, the new edition features orange details across the strap and the dial, something the Tag Heuer says is inspired by “the heat sparks made by the car on the asphalt” but equally recalls the sort of bold colour specially reserved for head-turning sports cars. This time the dial is solid black, something that helps make the orange accents pop.
Like the first joint venture, the Tag Heuer Carrera Chronograph x Porsche Orange Racing comes in a 44mm case and has a transparent case back that show’s off the watch’s oscillating mass, redesigned to look like a Porsche steering wheel, plus an 80-hour power reserve.
