Hermès has introduced a watch that not only keeps track of the time, but also simultaneously counts down to an event: the streamlined Slim d’Hermès L’Heure Impatiente, launched to much fanfare at Baselworld 2017. While the Slim d’Hermès collection was inspired by the movement towards minimalism, its new addition allows for an interesting, if whimsical, complication: a mechanical hourglass.

Translated as “the Impatient Hour,” the new complication is powered by the Manufacture Hermès H1912 movement located on the lower half of the watch face. You can set your personal reminder up to 12 hours before it happens; the sweeping countdown timer goes into motion 60 minutes before the timed event, and it signals the end of the countdown with a single chime. Charming and playful in nature, this complication captures what makes Hermès pieces so unique. With the watch fastened to an abyss-blue crocodile strap, the handsome timepiece is a timeless addition to any collection. Created by Hermès’ experienced artisans, like all of the maison’s other watches, this one is practical, functional, and stems from uncompromising expertise. Greenbelt 3, 757.8910
