How To Get Your Replacement iPhone Batteries in Manila

The battery replacement fee is P1,500 for eligible units out of warranty, inclusive of labor.

In case you haven't heard the news, Apple recently found itself in hot water. It was revealed the company had been throttling the performance of its older devices.

The Cupertino-based company said that in order to avoid sudden device shutdowns or reboots, it had to slow down the CPU on the iPhone to compensate for aging batteries.

While the company's intention was good, it didn't stop the proliferation of conspiracy theories and lawsuits from angry customers. To counter the backlash, Tim Cook, Apple's CEO, made an official apology and offered a huge discount on its replacement batteries. It may even be possible to get a free battery if the iPhone was purchased within a certain time frame, since phones made then are more susceptible to power issues. Apple also promised that in its next update, users will now have the option to switch off the feature entirely.

To check if your older iPhones (iPhone 6 and 7 and their Plus variants) are eligible for a battery swap, see the set of requirements below. This is Apple’s current and official procedure at all of its partner service centers:

  • Devices must undergo diagnosis to check the battery condition and other internal and external physical/accidental damage or unauthorized modification that may or may not be visible to the naked eye. If such issues are found, the iPhone will be ineligible for the battery replacement.
  • If, during the diagnosis, the center also finds other hardware issues, the Apple Certified Engineer will recommend a part/unit replacement accordingly.
  • Customers may or may not proceed with the recommendation, but if they decide to pull out, they have to settle the diagnostic fee if the unit is out or void of warranty. The battery replacement fee is P1,500 for eligible units out of warranty, inclusive of labor. This price may change due to importation costs and without prior notice.

If you have an iPhone that was purchased abroad, you may still have your batteries replaced at any local Apple Authorized Service Center such as Power Mac Center, Beyond the Box, and Switch, as long as it meets the strict set of guidelines above. But just to be sure, call your choice of service center first for information on stock and availability of the batteries.
