The plug-in hybrid version of Bentley’s Flying Spur is finally in Manila. The ultra-luxury sedan was unveiled at the Bentley showroom in Bonifacio Global City in front of a select group of motoring journalists as well as officials of PGA Cars, the official distributor of the British luxury carmaker in the country, led by its chairman Roberto Coyiuto.Ā

This iteration of the Flying Spur is special because it’s the first battery-electric Bentley. Under the hood is a 2.9-liter V6 gasoline engine combined with Bentley’s own E-motor that’s powered by an 18-kwh lithium ion battery. Total power output is 544 hp and 750 Nm of torque and it can accelerate from zero to 100 kph in 4.3 seconds.

The Flying Spur is the first in Bentley’s range in its target to become an ā€œend-to-end carbon neutral organization.ā€ The British carmaker plans to offer a full range of plug-in hybrid or battery electric vehicles by 2026, and a full 100 percent lineup of exclusively electric vehicles by 2030.

That’s an almost full 180-degree turn from being the world’s largest producer of 12-cylinder gasoline engines to fully electric (no internal combustion engines) in less than 10 years.

ā€œThe Flying Spur Hybrid ushers in Bentley’s electrified lineup in the Philippines,ā€ said Bentley Manila President Benedicto Coyiuto. ā€œThis model arrives immediately supported by the infrastructure, technical expertise and strategic alliances which PGA Cars—the official and exclusive partner of Bentley in the Philippines—has invested on and established in the past few years.ā€

Besides Bentley, PGA Cars also distributes vehicles under the Porsche, Audi, and Lamborghini brands in the Philippines.
