You Can Own This Car Driven by Captain Marvel's Brie Larson

Bring a Trailer (BaT), a popular U.S.-based classic car auction site announced the bid results of a very special classic 1971 Datsun 240Z. The car was listed in late August but failed to reach the undisclosed reserve amount.
So what’s so special about this car? This Datsun 240Z was used in a recent 2021 Nissan video commercial featuring actress Brie Larson, who is best-known for playing Captain Marvel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. You can see the video on YouTube, which has over five million views as of this writing. Aside from the car, promotional items, digital files containing commercial outtakes, advertising photographs, and a clean California title will be included in the seller’s name.
The car was acquired by the seller from BaT last October and has undergone some further restoration work, including rebuilding the original 2.4 liter inline six-cylinder engine with new bearings, seals, piston rings and other key components to ensure it runs like new, according to the BaT assessment report. In addition, interior refurbishments included reupholstering the interior in black, as well as a new dashboard cover and weatherstrips. New parts included some exhaust components, and a set of taillamps and other details were also added.
The interior work was reportedly carried out by Nissan USA, which included media blasting the seat frames prior to a repaint in black, as well as installing foam inserts, straps, black vinyl upholstery, and a dashboard cap. The car also sports a period correct wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and an 8k-rpm tachometer. The five-digit odometer shows 80k miles, approximately 200 of which were added under current ownership.

The highest among the 20 bids reached $57,500 (about P2.9 million) when the auction ended on August 24th but failed to see a new owner. Considering the provenance of the car, and the recently publicity generated by the global launch of the new generation Nissan Z, it was surprising that the bid did not yield a six-digit number. BaT sold off a similar 240Z last year for a hammer price of $310,000 (P15.5 million), the highest ever for a car of this model.
