The Ford Bronco Is Coming to the Philippines. Here's Why It's a Big Deal

Ford’s iconic Bronco was almost discontinued in the 1990s, but it made a triumphant comeback a few years ago. Now Ford Philippines announced that it will introduce the popular off-road SUV here in the country. The company confirmed in a statement that the model will launch in the Philippines within the year.

Ford Philippines said the Bronco will soon be open for reservations exclusively via the Ford online reservation portal and will be supported by all Ford dealers nationwide. Additional information, including product specifications and reservation timings will be shared closer to launch date, the company said.

The Ford Bronco gained unexpected notoriety in 1994 when former NFL star O.J. Simpson made news history after being chased by the police in what is often considered the world’s first televised low-speed car chase. Broadcast live on television, the Bronco left an indelible mark on pop culture. Simpson’s desperate dash for freedom led the football celebrity to part of the most celebrated criminal trial in American history.

The Ford Bronco faced discontinuation in 1996, but, after a 24-year hiatus, Ford revived the it in 2021 with the launch of the sixth generation Bronco in the US market. The new Bronco retained its rugged, off-road DNA packed modern technology and design elements including an innovative modular roof system, allowing drivers to customize their Bronco's roof based on weather conditions or personal preference. Some options include a hardtop, soft top, or a unique combination of both.

There are no final specs yet of the Ford Bronco that will be launched in the Philippines, but the sixth-generation Bronco features a terrain management system called G.O.A.T. (Goes Over Any Type of Terrain). This system allows drivers to select from various driving modes, such as Sand, Baja, Mud/Ruts, and Rock Crawl, optimizing the Bronco's performance for different off-road scenarios.
