New Auto Brand Lynk & Co. Deserves a Second Look

Chinese-Swedish automobile brand Lynk & Co. is now in the Philippines. Distributed by United Asia Automotive Group, Inc. (UAAGI), the brand will make its public debut at this year’s Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) at the World Trade Center and the SMX Convention Center this week. However, it previewed two of its models at a launch event held at the Ayala Museum. Lynk & Co.’s Asia Pacific Business Unit Bruce Lee was present at the launch event.

Founded in 2016, Lynk & Co is co-owned by China’s Geely and Sweden’s Volvo. Geely has ramped up its expansion in recent years, acquiring Volvo in 2010, including its performance brand Polestar, as well as Lotus among other brands. Geely also recently acquired a stake in British luxury carmaker Aston Martin to become its third-largest shareholder. It established Lynk & Co. to create a new global brand targeting younger consumers, particularly in urban environments.

Lynk & Co.’s unique selling proposition is that it leverages the expertise and resources of co-parent Gelly with the the technological advancements and safety features developed by its co-parent Volvo. The collaboration has allowed Lynk & Co. to garner recognition within such a short period of time. It now intends to compete not only in China but also in other key automotive markets worldwide. Its strategy included plans for sales and distribution networks in Europe and North America.

In the Philippines, Lynk & Co. previewed two of its upcoming models: the 01 PHEV Crossover and the 06 SUV. Both will be on display at MIAS.
