If You're Looking for Your First Car, the Toyota Raize Just Might Be It
In 2021, Toyota reported a 46.3 percent share in the local automotive market. That means that nearly one in every two cars sold last year was a Toyota.Â
The Japanese motoring behemoth just might capture the full 50 percent this year when it launched the all-new Raize on Friday (February 4). Motoring enthusiasts and casual car lovers have been watching and waiting for this new nameplate that comes with a very attractive price package and four variants to choose from.
The entry level variant comes with a retail price of just P746,000. It’s powered by a 1.2 liter three-cylinder inline 12-valve DOHC engine with Dual VVT-I and a five-speed manual transmission with an output of 86hp. Meanwhile the topline Turbo CVT variant is priced at P1.03 million powered by a 1.0 liter turbocharged three-cylinder inline 12-valve DOHC VVT-I engine with CVT transmission and paddle shifters and is rated at 96hp.
The topline Turbo CVT model comes in a not-so-subtle and exclusive two-tone paint finish with split-type LED headlamps. Inside, it’s fitted with a seven-inch TFT multi-information display, nine-inch display infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto. Safety and convenience features include a smart entry/push-start system, blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic alert and back up monitor with guide line paired with clearance and back sonar.
Thanks to Toyota’s new global architecture innovations the company developed for its new vehicles, the Toyota Raize, including its platform and powertrain unit, comes with the goal of realizing outstanding levels of driving performance, safety, and peace of mind. They were spot on, especially in the field of safety. The all-new Raize received a five-star rating after being given full marks in the collision performance tests of the Japanese New Car Assessment Program (JNCAP). These include a number of tests to assess the car’s overall toughness and safety quality. It received the highest scores for vehicles tested in the sub-four-meter SUV category.Â
