National Museum Receives Grant from Gokongwei Brothers Foundation 

The National Museum of the Philippines has received a grant from the Gokongwei Brothers Foundation, Inc. (GBF) to establish the Elizabeth Y. Gokongwei Ethnographic Stoneware Visible Storage and Resource Center at the National Museum of Anthropology.

The project will provide Filipinos and experts better access to Philippine ethnographic stoneware collections, such as precolonial potteries, ritual stoneware, and more. 

According to the GBF, the facility will house rare and priceless artifacts gathered from different ethnolinguistic groups in the country. The artifacts will come from the Ilokano, Ibaloy, Bontok, Ifugao, and Gaddang communities in northern Luzon; Pala’wan and Tagbanua communities in Palawan; and Maguindanao, Maranao, and Tausug communities in southwestern Mindanao. 

“We are dedicated to providing access to educational resources such as this project, because they believe that learning and education should encompass having an understanding of self and heritage, which is essential to the holistic development of the Filipino learner,” the GBF said in a statement.

The storage facility and resource center will be housed at the fifth floor, east wing of the National Museum of Anthropology in Manila.
