South Korea's Goobne Opens First Branch in the Philippines
Straight out of the South Korean drama Business Proposal, this new chicken restaurant will take you back to the world of Shin Ha-Ri and Kang Tae-Moo. Goobne has opened its first-ever Philippine branch at One Bonifacio High Street Mall in Taguig City.
Goobne, derived from the Korean term “goob-da” or “to roast,” is reintroducing the world-favorite dish through its selection of fresh, crunchy, and savory oven roasted chicken. Since its dishes are not fried, Goobne offers healthy yet tasty options to customers, whether K-drama lovers or not.

A peek into Goobne’s signature dishes
Goobne Original

Nothing beats the classics. Goobne Original features an incredibly crispy coating on the outside that perfectly complements and contrasts the juicy, tender chicken within. The dish is seasoned just right—neither bland nor overdone.

Pepper Crispy

This dish is a bestseller for a reason. Pepper Crispy makes for an addictive snack with its unique blend of Korean spices. Its peppery flavor is subtle, but still tickles your taste buds, leaving you wanting more.
Galbi Chicken

Double roasted to perfection, Galbi Chicken is for fans of sweet and savory chicken. The dish is reminiscent of charcoal-grilled ribs, except it’s made with a special sauce combining 10 different kinds of fruits and vegetables.
U.F.O. Fondue Chicken

Just by looking at the menu, I could already tell how appetizing U.F.O. Fondue Chicken is. Customers can pick two flavors of chicken and enjoy the bites with a pool of mixed mozzarella cheese, cheddar cheese, and chicken sauce. It's the ultimate, delectable experience for chicken lovers.
Other menu offerings

Goobne serves other famous K-food which you can partner with your chicken of choice, such as tteokbokki and pajeon (Korean pancake). Their menu is complete with alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, as well as desserts like bingsu (Korean shaved ice dessert).

In our case, we tried out the creamy carbonara tteokbokki to go with our sweet, salty, and spicy selection of chicken flavors. The first bite was divine; I have to say it was one of the best white sauces I've ever tasted—and I'm not even exaggerating. The potato pancakes, on the other hand, were rather bland for my liking.

We downed our food with the Shark-Rita, a frozen blue margarita, which is said to be one of the highly recommended drinks. Its mix leaned toward the bitter side. So, if you're the type who prefers a sweeter option to cleanse your palate (like me), it might be better for you to try a different beverage instead.
Goobne is expected to hold its grand opening in September. Launched in Gimpo City in South Korea in 2005, the restaurant now has more than 1,200 outlets globally.
