With war still plaguing Ukraine, its citizens face a long and hard winter ahead. This is why World Central Kitchen (WCK), founded by chef Jose Andres, is raising funds to help Ukraine weather through the winter—and the war. Co-organized with CatchOn – A Finn Partners Company, The Ate Group in Singapore, and Eat Public Relations in the Philippines, WCK united more than 70 restaurants in Hong Kong, Singapore, and the Philippines to support Ukraine’s meal distribution program.

The participating Philippine restaurants are among the nation’s most illustrious F&B restaurants. They are: A Mano, Cibo, Ember, Grace Park, Gallery by Chele, Helm, Lusso, Made Nice, Mamou, Manam, Metronome, Ramen Ron, Savage, and Toyo Eatery. These restaurants will be donating a portion of their profits from dinner services to WCK’s meal distribution program in Ukraine.

WCK has been in Ukraine since the start of the conflict in February, making sure people in war zones and the frontlines have access to food. According to WCK, “As temperatures drop and Russian attacks continue to target Ukraine's energy infrastructure, families are left without gas, water, and electricity.” WCK plans to raise and spend $10 million per month on food until the end of winter.

“We are committed to staying in Ukraine through the entirety of winter until March 2023 and will have to determine our impact based on available funds. We continue to monitor and pivot the locations we serve based on need and constant on-the-ground security assessments,” said Javier Garcia, secretary of WCK’s Board of Directors.

Since 2010, WCK has been helping communities respond to crises and build resilient food systems. The WCK’s Relief Team mobilizes local restaurants, food trucks, emergency kitchens, and organizations to feed survivors and communities during disasters. Through its efforts, the World Central Kitchen has served more than 200 million meals to families around the world.
