Lego Just Built Toyota's 'Yellow Brick Road' Car

Lego and Toyota have independently come up with some very cool projects over the years and their recent collaboration is nothing short of awesome. Legoland Japan and Toyota’s motorsports brand Gazoo Racing (GR) have engineered a faithful full-sized replica of the Toyota GR Supra through a team of Lego engineers based in the Czech Republic.

According to Toyota UK Magazine, it took 21 model builders and two mechanics a total of 5,400 hours working 24 hours a day for 225 days to come up with a yellow-colored fifth generation GR Supra. It comes complete with exterior lights, functional doors, and highly detailed interior and cockpit. The car even runs and can reach speeds of up to 27 kph.  

This isn’t the first collaboration between the two brands. Lego built a red full-sized Toyota Camry in 2018 using half a million Lego bricks that took about 18 hours to build. The replica was commissioned by Toyota Australia.

With the purchase of a 299-piece Lego Speed Champion Toyota GR Supra model, buyers will get the full GR treatment and experience. In the Philippines, gearheads and kids need not fret as the same kit is available here through Lego Philippines, giving them a chance to build one of Toyota’s most iconic sportscar models at a price of P1,299.

This collectible Lego kit comes with a Toyota driver mini-figure complete with racing suit, safety helmet and wrench. The Lego Speed Champions building sets are mini versions of the world’s leading and best-known automobiles. Once they are built up, they can be collected for display or role play for you or your kid’s race action against other cars from the Speed Champions range.

Meanwhile, the full-sized Lego Toyota GR Supra will be on display this month until October 11th at Legoland Japan.
