Just Two Days Since Its Premiere, The Sandman Is the No. 1 Watched Show on Netflix in 54 Countries
The Sandman’s official screen adaptation has debuted as the top watched show on Netflix in 54 countries around the world. This comes just over 48 hours since its release, which is almost unheard of on Netflix. This is according to Flixpatrol, which also reports that the show is ranking in third place in the Philippines.Â
The Sandman creator Neil Gaiman religiously protected his IP from mediocre adaptations for over 30 years, but finally gave his blessing when show developers David Goyer and Allen Heinberg invited him to play a large role in the Netflix show. Gaiman clearly saw the potential of Goyer and Heinberg’s vision, because fans couldn’t be more pleased with The Sandman adaptation.Â

The show has managed to attain high viewership and strong critic scores, and all signs point to a second season of the show.Â
The streaming industry is facing a crossroads of sorts, with Netflix canceling top 10 shows and Warner Bros. canceling movies slated for HBO Max. But we wouldn’t be surprised if Netflix gives the green light to a second season less than a week since its release.Â
