The Sandman Season 2: Everything You Need to Know
Only two days since we binge-watched The Sandman, and we’re itching to return to the Dreaming. Season one of Netflix’s The Sandman fulfilled everyone’s dreams (and desires) for the beloved comics’ first adaptation. Neil Gaiman, along with show developers David Goyer and Allen Heinberg, delivered an extraordinary adaptation that lived up to everyone’s expectations.

What is happening to season two?
Netflix has not yet given the green light for a second season of the show, but considering the high viewership and high critic ratings, we wouldn’t be surprised if news broke any day now.
When will we find out if season two will happen?
Netflix is holding its second TUDUM event on September 24, so we might be hearing news of season two then or perhaps sooner rather than later.
What will season two be about?
Season one covered 16 stories from the first two collections of The Sandman: “Preludes and Nocturnes” and “The Doll’s House.” If season two will follow the same format, then it will likely cover the third and fourth collections, “Dream Country” and “Season of Mists.” Both are considered the peak of the entire 75-story comic series.
We will likely learn more about Dream’s history of being very, very bad at relationships. In season one, episode 4 “A Hope in Hell,” we were introduced very briefly to Morpheus’ former lover Nada. “Season of Mists” will visit their origin story, as well as Morpheus’ failed romance with Calliope from Greek mythology.
Will we see Lucifer and the Endless again?
Absolutely. We’ll also see the return of Lucifer when Dream returns to hell. The end of season one hinted at a potential war brewing between Hell and the Dreaming, which doesn’t align with the comics, but it suggests Lucifer will play a bigger role in the second season.
As for the Endless, “Season of Mists” includes a story with a family meeting between the Endless, meaning that we’ll be seeing two more Endless that we didn’t meet in season one. These are Destiny, their cold older brother, and Delirium, the mad youngest sister. Destruction will be the last Endless we’ll meet, and he won’t appear until much later in the story.
