The surging and reformed local indie-alternative rock band IV of Spades have announced a comeback concert in the Mall of Asia Arena in December. Karpos Multimedia is organizing the show, which will come soon after the boys release their upcoming album Andalucia in November.

The four-piece rock outfit composed of Unique Salonga on vocals and rhythm guitar, Zild Benitez on bass and vocals, Blaster Silonga on lead guitar and vocals, and Badjao de Castro on drums, have been on tear lately with well-loved and mature singles after allĀ  of them decided to regroup and make music again together after a seven-year period of diverse creative development and solo ventures.

The group launched three massive singles--ā€œAura,ā€ ā€œNanaman,ā€ and ā€œKonsyensyaā€--for three distinct tone explorations, with the boys flexing how much they've grown creatively during their time apart.

A creative pivot toward highlighting their individual strengths in each new release is a refreshing direction for the alternative rock outfit to let people know that each member means business when it comes to showing off their compelling abilities.

IV of Spades landed on Esquire Philippines’ September cover Ā soon after releasing their melancholic and warm comeback track ā€œAura,ā€ which is still topping local charts as of this month.

Philippine rock icon Mike Hanopol and the boys talked shop for a collision of old and new generation Filipino rock savants.

The four-piece rock sensation and the Juan dela Cruz Band and Hagibis legend went deep into the inner workings of a genuine musician and what it is like being one in this day and age.

ā€œPara sa akin, yung pagiging musikero, ang nakikita ko, tool tayo para ma-express yung mga emotions. Mga feelings na hindi na-express kadalasan ng mga tao (For me, being a musician, the way I see it, we are a tool for expressing emotions. Feelings that people often don't express are translated [through music],ā€ said Unique, the band’s frontman and the first to leave the band in 2018.

We are indeed witnessing a creative renaissance with the boys honing and discovering their own tastes and identities via the solo records and albums they’ve made along the way.

With a forthcoming album in the pipeline up for release next month, we are in for the genesis of what inevitably will be a generational run of music from the local rock juggernauts.Ā
