Megaworld Upgrades Carlos Yulo's Reward After Back-to-Back Win

After Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo's back-to-back win at the Paris Olympics 2024, the Internet was abuzz as to whether Megaworld Corporation would be giving him two P24 million worth of condo units for the two gold medals. Well, the real estate company, which had earlier committed to rewarding each Filipino gold medalist, has finally answered everyone's million-peso question.

Megaworld will not be giving Carlos Yulo two two-bedroom units worth P24 million. Instead, they're upgrading the reward to one three-bedroom unit (worth P32 million) in McKinley Hill plus a P3 million cash bonus, for a total of P35 million. The unit comes with parking, appliances, furniture, fixtures, two balconies, and a separate maid's room.

"Since this is a very significant milestone in the history of Philippine sports to have two gold Olympic medals during our 100th-year participation as a country in the Olympics, which also coincides with our company's 35th anniversary this year, we are boosting our reward for Carlos Yulo now totaling to P35-million. He truly deserves this and we will always be proud of him for taking Filipino excellence to the next level," Megaworld president Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso said in a statement.

Megaworld's Reward for Gold Medalists

This isn't the first time Megaworld has rewarded Filipino athletes for their hard work. In 2021, billionaire tycoon Andrew Tan and his son Kevin Tan made good on their promise when Filipina weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz bagged a gold medal during the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

Diaz got a unit at One Eastwood Avenue in Megaworld's Eastwood City. The property is worth P14 million and comes with a new television, fridge, stove, modular cabinets, fancy plates and cutlery, and an entire set of indoor plants. House decor also included two pieces of art that serve as a tribute to her win, both made by young artist John Ken Gomez.

Yulo, on the other hand, is getting a unit in Megaworld's McKinley Hill, an integrated urban township that spans 50 hectares within the grounds of Fort Bonifacio. Mostly Italian-themed, it is most famous for Venice Piazza and the Venice Grand Canal Mall, which houses an indoor waterway inspired by Venice and the Ponte Rialto Bridge.
