Filipino Fans joined hundreds of thousands of visitors who flew to the Lion City for the annual night race over the weekend, which was the second most-attended in the event’s 16-year history.

The Formula 1 Grand Prix in Singapore 2025 lit up the Lion City once again, drawing as many as 300,641 race-goers from all over the world, which is an 11.7 percent increase from last year’s turnout according to the official count. That makes this year’s edition of the race the second most attended in the event’s 16-year history. It’s a clear testament to the enduring allure of arguably Formula 1’s most glamorous night race.

Under the glow of the city skyline, George Russell of Mercedes delivered a commanding performance to win the 2025 Singapore Grand Prix, finishing ahead of Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing, and Lando Norris of McLaren. The victory marked Russell’s second of the season, while McLaren Team secured the 2025 Constructors’ Championship race with an accumulated total of 650 points, which is statistically impossible to beat anymore. The Mercedes team is currently second place at 325 points.

Drivers once again faced the unique brutality of the Marina Bay Street Circuit, a demanding 4.94-kilometer stretch lined with 19 unforgiving corners and relentless braking zones. The race is run under lights, high temperatures and humidity, pushing both man and machine to their limits. Some competitors reportedly lost as much as three to four kilograms of body weight during the two-hour test of endurance.

Beyond the track, the Singapore GP week transformed the city into a festival celebrating precision, creativity, and sportsmanship. TAG Heuer staged a special exhibition showcasing its motorsport heritage at Ion Mall, from vintage Monaco and Carrera watches to modern chronographs inspired by F1 telemetry. Guests experienced immersive racing simulators that allowed them to virtually “lap” the Marina Bay circuit, blending the thrill of technology and timekeeping.

Meanwhile, Lego captivated fans young and old with full-scale Formula 1 car installations made entirely of bricks, each sculpture built from over half a million pieces. These life-size models, displayed across circuit entrances and mall concourses, became instant social-media sensations. Lego’s interactive pit-stop challenges encouraged families to channel their inner engineers, merging play with the spirit of Formula 1 innovation.

Over 65,000 concertgoers filled the Padang nightly for performances by G-DRAGON, Foo Fighters, and pop legend Sir Elton John, turning te race weekend into Southeast Asia’s biggest open-air music festival.

Filipino celebrities also made their presence felt at the annual race. Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray hosted an exclusive Ferrari event, while celebrity couple Troy Montero and Aubrey Miles, long-time race regulars, were spotted enjoying the festivities. Filipino fans from all over the country joined thousands of regional visitors who flew in to the city just for the event.

Mercedes Benz Philippines also held a raffle contest for its customers. F1 tour organizer Red Rock Travel  facilitated the trip, which includes an all-expense-paid trip to the race weekend, and passes to a pricey hospitality suite under “Torque Class.”

The Singapore Grand Prix continues to be a cornerstone of the city’s business and tourism calendar. The 2025 event is estimated to generate S$130 to S$150 million (about P5.6 to P6.5 billion) in tourism receipts, covering hotel bookings, dining, retail, and transportation. According to Singapore’s Ministry of Trade, since its debut in 2008, the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix has generated close to S$2 billion in incremental tourism receipts.
