Baguio City, Iloilo City, San Carlos City Bag ASEAN Clean Tourist City Award

All three were recently recognized for their sustainable tourism.

You now have more reason to visit these three cities next year.

Baguio City, Iloilo City, and San Carlos City (Negros Occidental) have each been awarded the ASEAN Clean Tourist City award, which recognizes the cleanest and greenest cities in the ASEAN region.

The criteria for the ASEAN Clean Tourist City Standard are the following: environmental management, cleanliness; waste management; awareness building about environment protection and cleanliness; green space; healthy safety, urban safety, and security; and tourism infrastructure and facilities.

Aside from promoting cleanliness and environmental awareness, the award is ASEAN’s effort to promote sustainable tourism in the region and improve the quality of life in these areas.

This is the second time San Carlos has bagged the award after their 2017 win. The recognition for the three cities will last for three years, from 2020 to 2022.

The awarding ceremony will be held in Brunei Darussalam on January 16, 2020.
