The Top-Rated Resort in Coron Still Offers Unforgettable Experiences Nearly 10 Years Later

Resort staff at the Funny Lion in Coron wear shirts that proudly proclaim it to be the number one hotel for travelers in the Philippines. It’s not an empty boast, as a ranking of the most popular hotels in the country puts Funny Lion properties in El Nido and Coron in Palawan numbers one and two respectively. 

What that means is that both resorts have earned top marks in reviews from actual paying guests on the travel booking platform Tripadvisor, with both properties ranking first—or most popular—in their respective locations.

Of the two resorts, The Funny Lion Coron deserves special mention for being the first property to carry the brand name, having first opened its doors to travelers almost 10 years ago. But if you visit the property today, it seems like no time has passed and it still offers above average service and amenities to those visiting this part of Palawan.

Afterwards, you can take your drinks up to the Pride Rock Deck for a panoramic view of the island. (There’s coffee, too, if that’s more your thing).

The next day you might want to get a massage session in to relieve those sore muscles after hiking up to get to Kayangan Lake. Head to Sea Tree Spa at the resort, choose from their massage menu, and allow the therapists to work their magic. You’re on vacation and the goal is to rid yourself of stress and negativity as much as possible.

If you’re still looking for things to do, the resort offers bikes so you can ride out to the city for a quick exploration trip, play board games with your mates, watch a movie, or take a nap by the pool or in your room.

After staying there for several days, you begin to realize why they’re rated so highly on travel sites like Tripadvisor.
