Angel Aquino doesn’t have a Facebook account, and she’s not a regular poster on Instagram. A few weeks ago, she made up for that sorry social presence with a movie trailer—not even the full movie, mind you—that broke the internet so much that all that traffic must have showed up in satellite heat maps.
“I hear the trailer picked up 17 million views on one platform,” she says, and adds, “—I don’t know where, but that’s what they say.” She was also told that the app hit number one on both iOS and Android stores on the day the movie streamed.
But that’s as far as she knows, or cares to know. After all, she was born well before the internet, and is of that generation that arguably still understands what a private life really is.
