A Guy Preserved a Bag of Cheetos for Future Civilizations to Find After 10,000 Years
You’ve probably thought about what future civilizations would find as remnants of our present technology. What would they unearth 10,000 years from now? Most likely, they would find the remnants of the urban jungles we have today buried under feet of earth. But they would probably be puzzled as to why someone decided to preserve in resin a single bag of Flamin Hot Cheetos, entombed in a reinforced concrete sarcophagus and protected from earthquakes by metal cords to isolate it seismically.
In a TikTok video created by Sunday Nobody, he explains how he created a sarcophagus made of reinforced concrete. For the headstone, he used a laser to engrave the ingredients of Cheetos and then gilded the text with gold leaf.
“The Flamin’ Hot Cheetos people are not sponsoring or even aware of this project,” says Sunday Nobody. For the Cheetos encasement, he poured resin over an unopened bag of the famous snack, and then hung the Cheetos inside the sarcophagus with wires attached to springs so that the resin is “seismically isolated.”
“And then I took a 10-watt diode laser and tried to burn off all the germs from inside the sarcophagus, then I laid the headstone on top of the sarcophagus and hermetically sealed it,” says Sunday Nobody. This means the sarcophagus is sealed in a way that is completely airtight, insulated, and protected from outside influences.
Once he has buried the sarcophagus, he laid a tombstone over the burial site with the inscription:
“Historical artifact buried below. Do not open for 10,000 years. Year buried: 2022.”
You'd have to have unbridled optimism to think that civilizations could exist for the next 10,000 years.
