With existing branches in England, Wales, and now Scotland, Jollibee needs only a branch in Northern Ireland to complete its British expansion.

Jollibee continues with its aggressive global expansion, this time setting its sights on Scotland in the United Kingdom. After the restaurant chain’s massive success with its London branches, Jollibee will now open two new stores in Scotland to mark its first entry into the Scottish market.

On February 24, Jollibee will open its first Scottish branch in the capital Edinburgh at 136 Princes Street, which is also the city’s main shopping street. Then on February 25, Jollibee will open its second branch, this time in Scotland’s biggest and busiest city, Glasgow.

These Scottish branches will feature every signature Jollibee dish, with an additional offer of Halal meat to better serve the local market.

In 2021, Jollibee opened more branches in London, Madrid, and Cardiff, and in 2020, it debuted its first stores in Rome, Liverpool, and Leicester. Jollibee Foods Corp. has committed a P3.3 billion budget to open 50 stores in Europe over the next five years, and its Scottish branches are the latest additions to the brand in Europe.

“The reception for Jollibee in 2021 gave us confidence that our new store design and locally-relevant menu created specifically for our European audience was working,” said Dennis Flores, President of Jollibee Europe, Middle East, Asia, and Australia.

Jollibee’s sales in the U.K. rose by 417 percent in the last 18 months, and 1.3 million pieces of Chickenjoy have been sold in the U.K. since January 2021. Overall, Jollibee’s global sales fared much better in 2021 than in 2020 with a net income of P5.94 billion in 2021 compared to P11.5 billion in net loss in 2020 during the early days of the pandemic. The impressive recovery now puts Jollibee closer to its pre-pandemic numbers as the conglomerate pivots to focus on its international businesses.
