Julia Barretto Joins the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary

The Philippine Coast Guard PCG) has welcomed Auxiliary Ensign Julia Barretto in the Auxiliary K9 Squadron on September 1 at the PCG’s National Headquarters, Port Area, Manila.
Gerald Anderson, who is Auxiliary Lieutenant Commander, witnessed the event.
During the event, the Coast Guard Commandant CG Admiral George V. Ursabia Jr. highlighted the increasing need for K9 units in the country for the promotion of national security.
The PCG’s K9 unit is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of commercial vessels, the ship riding public, and Philippine ports from terrorist attacks and unlawful activities. The unit is also deployed to humanitarian missions and disaster response operations
“As the most senior appointee, Auxiliary Ensign Barretto was given an opportunity to speak on behalf of her fellow PCGA members. She thanked the PCG, especially the PCGA K9 Squadron, for welcoming her into the field of public service. In return, she pledged to actively support the initiatives of the unit towards the delivery of humble and compassionate service to the Filipino people,” the PCG wrote in a statement.
