Golden State Warriors' Klay Thompson Makes a Splash with the Anta KT7 'Be Calm' Colorway
Currently the number three seed in the West, the Golden State Warriors are all set for another run at an NBA championship with just a few weeks left before the Playoffs begin. After being away for over two years, Klay Thompson’s return to the team is undeniably one of the biggest reasons why the Warriors have been playing so well this season. Averaging 18.7 points, 4 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per outing at the moment, Thompson is slowly returning to his old form and will be an integral part of the Warriors campaign in the postseason.
As one-half of the Splash Brothers, Thompson’s prowess at shooting has been well-documented. But more than that, his ability to overcome adversity is what makes him even more special. A Kaiser Permanente-produced short film back in 2020 titled Above the Water spoke about Thompson’s ACL injury sustained in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals and the subsequent surgery and grind of rehab he had to undergo to get back on the court. En route to this, he suffered yet another setback when he tore his Achilles tendon while working on his return. Others may have counted him out, but Thompson kept the faith and despite missing 177 games, made his long-awaited comeback in early January of this year on “Klay Day.”
Anta pays tribute to the NBA star’s long arduous journey to get back on the floor with the KT7. The latest colorway, ‘Be Calm’ takes on the home uniform colors of the Warriors for a super clean and refreshing remix of the silhouette. Reminiscent of what’s beneath the Golden Gate Bridge, it may look pretty and placid from afar but locals know just how deadly those waters can be. The same can be said about Thompson. Still waters run deep and so is his range from beyond the arc.
The KT7 employs Anta’s revolutionary NitroEdge midsole technology. Injected under high pressure, the low density material makes it lightweight, more durable, and most importantly, provides excellent cushioning and return of energy. An anisotropic carbon fiber plate supports the mid foot while the Smart SAM technology, also seen in the previous KT6, reduces shock to protect the knees and enhances stability in the heel area.
The Speed Fiber upper gives just the right amount of flexibility and support while allowing full movement and a slightly padded collar provides ankle comfort. The durable rubber outsole ensures superior traction to help you stop and take off. Thompson’s father Mychal’s words are found on the bottom of the shoe reminding his son to “Stay Healthy. Stay Humble. Stay Hungry.”
Apart from Thompson, Precious Achiuwa of the Toronto Raptors, Terance Mann of the LA Clippers and Kevon Looney of the Golden State Warriors have also been rocking the shoe in the NBA this season. Locally, sweet shooting PBA rookie and Anta athlete Anton Asistio of the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters has been seen playing in earlier colorway releases of the KT7s.
The Anta KT7 ‘Be Calm’ retails for P7,995 and is now available locally at all Anta stores and select stockists.
