The Coolest Sneakers of 2020 (So Far)

It's never too early to keep an eye on the standouts.

2020 is off to a roaring start. (Sorry, sorry. We had to.) Despite a slow couple of weeks at the very beginning of the year, the sneaker world is already delivering some stuff that's bound for end-of-year lists. Here's what's caught our eyes thus far, from a couple of OGs bundled up together, to some new riffs on not-entirely-new shoes that rise above their forebears through the power of collaboration. There's surely more to come as the year rolls on, but for now, these are the coolest sneakers of 2020.

1|  New Balance x Ronnie Fieg 1700 'Colorist'

Ronnie and New Balance, back together. And, as expected, the collaboration is colorful and sure to be snapped up by fanboys and NB heads alike.

Release: 31 January 2020

2|  Nike x Undercover React Presto

This is, to our eyes, the best version of the React Presto since its launch. Take your pick on colorways—there's also black and "mahogany"—because it really comes down to that chunkier sole, which balances the look and gives it some visual heft.

Release: 28 January 2020

3|  Adidas x White Mountaineering LXCON

The LXCON is a modern riff on the Lexicon from the '90s. It's already a little left of center in its normal format, but with input from White Mountaineering, it goes full weird. We like it.

Release: 25 January 2020

4|  Air Jordan 4 'Black Cat'

Hard as it might be to believe, 2020 is the first time the Black Cat colorway of the 4 has been retroed since it released way back in 2006. Welcome to the '20s, old friend.

Release: 22 January 2020

5|  Nike DNA Series 87 x 91 Pack

It's the Air Huarache and the Air Max 1, together in their OG colorways—flipped, with the AM1 hues on the Huarache and vice versa—for a special pack. What's not to love?

Release: 15 January 2020

6|  Adidas x Pharrell Williams 4D Runner 'Tech Olive'

Adidas's 4D midsole technology is impressive, no doubt, but nothing truly new. Still, with a "tech olive" upper and a little creative input from Pharrell, it looks better than ever.

Release: 11 January 2020

7|  Nike Air Max 90 'Volt'

The Air Max 90 turns 30 in 2020, so you can probably expect to see colorway after colorway of the classic style hit shelves this year. Leaning heavily on the super-bright Volt shade of yellow, this one's an early favorite.

Release: 9 January 2020
