Get a Rare Look at the Newest Rolex Oyster Perpetuals
At the inauguration of the new Rolex concept store in Bonifacio High Street, Swiss ambassador Andrea Reichlin made a profound observation about man's relationship with time—that we are always in a race against it, and that this race is never in our favor.
Time's uninterrupted march moves with or without us. Nevertheless, we choose to wear its agent, the watch, and, as Reichlin points out, our watches accompany us always.
You put it on before you walk out the door, sneak a peek when conversation gets boring, or stare at it because it's just so beautiful. The only time you take it off is when you're ready to call it a day, and even then, while lying in bed, it's humming nearby, counting the hours, minutes, and seconds until you wake and join it again.
Why not make your daily companion a Rolex? It is a classic in the universe of timepieces, and arguably the most loved and most popular luxury watch in the country. The Rolex's allure lies in its reputation for magnificent design and absolute reliability. Consider a few highlights: the hermetically-sealed Oyster case, which makes watches waterproof and dustproof, and the self-winding Perpetual rotor that provides constant energy. Both are firsts in the world of watches, by the way.
The water-inspired boutique, adorned by a Baccarat chandelier, walnut wood cabinets, and a wall of illuminated Plexiglass panel, is both generous and compact. Zones for ogling and then buying are set off near the walls, allowing for a central space for roaming (and thinking about whether you should get a Sky-Dweller with a leather or Oyster strap). A VIP room is hidden away from the hubbub, separated by a lattice wall and furnished with Rolex-green seating. But of course the highlight of the shop is the wide array of watches twinkling beneath the cold, hard glass.
The special Baselworld exhibit featuring the newest members of the Oyster family—updated versions of the Sea-Dweller, Yacht-Master II, Cosmograph Daytona, Perpetual Sky-Dweller, Perpetual Datejust 41, and Perpetual Lady-Datejust 28—is found just outside the store. Catch these beauties before they leave or consider the Datejusts, which are already available for purchase.
