No other NBA player has dramatically redefined how basketball is played today as much as Steph Curry has. Who would’ve thunk that the 6’3” point guard out of Davidson would be this deadly and is showing no signs of slowing down playing on his 12th season for the Golden State Warriors. His constant defying of the odds and unreal range from beyond the arc has forever changed the dynamics of the game and it’s only right that his signature brand does the same for the shoe game.

After being the poster boy of Under Armour since 2013, it was only a matter of time until the Baltimore-based sportswear company gave the seven-time All-Star, two-time MVP and three-time NBA champ his own label and the Curry Flow 8 heralds the arrival of the Curry Brand.

What's so great about the Curry 8 Flow

Every basketball shoe claims to be revolutionary but this one’s really something else. The Curry Flow 8 debuts UA Flow, Under Armour’s industry-changing cushioning platform that took three years in the kitchen to cook up. This new technology makes the shoe 37 percent lighter than all other signature basketball shoes available in the market today. It also completely gets rid of the usual rubber outsole your normal basketball shoe employs with UA Flow providing 22 percent more traction than rubber for a no-slip, grippy on-court experience.

Cushioning is also made better by replacing rubber with UA Flow’s space-age foam, improving comfort, cushioning and court-feel by 17 percent. The Curry Flow 8 also features a dynamic knit upper for superior fit and lockdown. An external heel counter provides reinforced heel fit, while a guard rail and Pebax plate allows you to move like Steph with those quick cuts, sudden stops and explosive starts. A battery of extensive testing involving more than 100 athletes that took more than 1,500 hours to complete has helped Under Armour develop its most advanced basketball shoe thus far.

Designed by his kids

Curry celebrated his 33rd birthday earlier this month by leading the Warriors to a W over the league-leading Utah Jazz, 131-119, where he finished with a stat line of 32 points, five boards, and nine assists. Even more impressive was what he was rocking on his feet the entire game. Earlier that day, his three children Riley, Ryan, and Canon did a “top-secret surprise scavenger hunt” at home and surprised him with the ‘Gifted Flow” colorway of the Curry 8 Flow that the kids designed themselves.

Decked in a head-turning, eye-popping combination of vibrant Tropic Pink and Capri, this iteration of the Curry Flow 8 is young, playful and fun. A lot like how Curry himself plays. Releasing alongside three other colorways of the shoe this weekend, the ‘Gifted Flow’ definitely holds the most meaning to the sweet-shooting Splash brother.

The Curry Flow 8 is finally available in Manila at Under Armour stores in SM Mall of Asia, SM Megamall, Bonifacio High Street, Greenbelt 3, and Trinoma and will release in Under Armour Ayala Cebu in April.
