Channing Tatum Is the Modern Eros in the latest Versace campaign

Tatum talks about his ideal scent, his experience working on Versace's new campaign, and his views about love.

Channing Tatum embodies Eros, the mythological Greek God of love, exuding energy, passion, and intensity in the latest Versace Eros campaign, introducing the brand's newest men's fragrance, Eros Energy. This new eau de parfum pour homme joins the existing Eros and Eros Flame fragrances.

Versace’s modern interpretation places Eros in a race against his own arrow, constantly pushing him to enhance his mental and physical strength and accomplish goals he once thought impossible.

On the importance of choosing a scent: "I think of the scent as the last garnish on a meal or like the cherry on top. You know, you craft your outfit, you do your hair, and then the last thing is you put your scent on and then you go. It’s sort of the last signature on your intention for the day.”

Eros Energy draws inspiration from the Mediterranean coastline’s breathtaking beauty. The fragrance opens with a burst of citrus, featuring Italian bergamot and zesty notes of blood orange, lime, lemon, grapefruit, and mandarin. Pink peppercorn and blackcurrant add intrigue, while white amber represents passion and desire. Patchouli, oakmoss, and musk provide depth and warmth. The vibrant yellow bottle, adorned with Versace’s signature Greca and Medusa, is topped with a bronze cap, echoing the essence of a luxurious summer.

Tatum shared with Vanity Fair what he loves about the perfume: “[Eros Energy] just smelled so fresh and energetic. I think of my senses as kind of my mood in a way. I think of the scent as the last garnish on a meal or like the cherry on top. You know, you craft your outfit, you do your hair, and then the last thing is you put your scent on and then you go. It’s sort of the last signature on your intention for the day.”

In the same interview, he revealed the challenge of preparing for the campaign, which captures the spirit of the Olympics. "I’m constantly training, so I didn’t do any specific training for it. I was running and it’s mostly what I do in the commercial. What’s hard about my job is that I basically fluctuate in weight like crazy. Because of one role, I need to be looking like I work out five times a day and don’t eat anything, and then the next movie I’m supposed to be a dad with a dad bod. So I’m kind of always doing special training for whatever particular thing is coming up," he said.

Channeling the Greek God of love, Tatum ponders on the true meaning of love: "To me, when you love someone or you love something, it’s the need and the want to care for it. The want to wake up every day to nurture it and to protect it and just to live passionately through it and with it."

Tatum and Zoë Kravitz have been dating since 2021 and got engaged in 2023. Recent reports reveal that they are very much in love and doing fantastic. Tatum is the lead star in Blink Twice, Kravitz's directorial debut.
