Grooming for the Greater Good, With Kiehl’s and Matthew McConaughey

Sometimes men, the fragile humans that we are, need an excuse to buy grooming products that would otherwise make us feel a little too vain. We shouldn’t, of course, because the notion that going the extra mile for good grooming can somehow harm your masculinity is ridiculous. Nevertheless, if you find yourself needing more reason than dry skin to invest in a damn good moisturizer, Kiehl’s has the best one of all.

The brand’s latest social responsibility campaign supports children with autism through the Autism Speaks Foundation—and the limited edition Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream, whose tub art is designed by Matthew McConaughey. Every purchase of the Ultra Facial Cream throws more funds in the direction of medical research for persons with autism.

Kiehl’s has joined forces with Gerald Anderson, who founded a program that trains therapy dogs for children with autism. Kiehl’s Philippines has also partnered with Autism Society Philippines, a non-profit organization made up of families, teachers, therapists, institutions, and other individuals whose lives have been touched by autism.


The ASP was founded in 1989 by 11 moms, who banded together for the causes of their children with autism. Since then, it has grown to over 10,000 members with chapters all across the Philippines, and today continues to promote awareness about autism and establish institutional mechanisms that support persons with autism and their families.

Now, purchasing Kiehl’s products works that way, too. So if you need to tell yourself that you bought a moisturizer for a good cause, at least now you can.
