These days, when you want to have a men’s suit made, you’re spoiled for choices. The local style scene has seen the revival of classic menswear and a nostalgia for the gentleman with several tailoring shops and specialty stores offering bespoke suits, luxury shoes, and other haberdashery services.

While there is no shortage of Filipino tailors crafting well-constructed suits, it does help to know which ones should be on your radar. Here, we round up some of the best suit makers in Manila. Give them a call for your next suit, whether it’s for a special occasion or everyday wear.

1| Tiño

Starts at P50,000

When you entrust your bespoke suit to a tailor who has dressed up at least one James Bond (it’s Pierce Brosnan), you know you’re in good hands. Master tailor Napoleon Arienza trained under an artisan in Penne, Italy, worked for the Italian fashion house Brioni, and has been constructing bespoke suits for years. His work at Tiño recognizes the individuality of each body and addresses its irregularities. The shop offers premium fabrics such as London's Holland & Sherry and uses horsehair canvas as lining to ensure your suit will last a lifetime.

2| Signet

Starts at P80,000

Specialty store Signet established its sartorial credence by hosting an array of highly curated items from the best menswear brands around the world. The boutique is the epitome of refinement with its handmade shoes, tailored shirts, accessories, and other essentials. You can even have a suit made at its trunk shows where an Italian master tailor from halfway across the world is flown in for the service.

3| Masanting Sastreria

Although the name is taken from a Kapampangan word, Masanting Sastreria began in New York City, where Mark Aguas had an internship in finance and accounting. Aguas found it difficult to get a suit that draped well on his Asian build so he made his own. Now, he and wife Carin, along with in-house curators, create a heartfelt and personalized service for bespoke suits. Masanting also developed a house cut designed for the Filipino wearer with weather, comfort, and mobility in mind.

4| Felipe and Sons

Starts at P16,700

Stylish men know Felipe and Sons, the self-proclaimed “barberdashery” that offers premium barbershop and tailoring services in one space. Decked out in brick, wood, and steel bars, it poses itself as a man cave of sorts, a concept that caters to the needs of modern gents—glass of whiskey, optional. Its haberdashery offers a range of men's suits in tiers: Basics, Essentials, Premium, and Exclusives.

5| Signo Custom Clothing

Starts at P16,000

It may be a surprise to hear a full-canvas men's suit quoted at only P16,000, but Renz Signo is not your typical tailor. Renz, a millennial cobbler and master tailor from Tondo, once held an interesting job as the butler of Osama Bin Laden’s brother before coming home to set up Signo Custom Clothing. Today, his shop offers affordable bespoke suits and custom leather shoes for the everyman.

6| Suit It Up Manila

Starts at 15,000

You've most likely seen Suit It Up all over Instagram because of its star-studded clientele, which includes Dingdong Dantes, Nico Bolzico, Erwan Heussaff, and Alden Richards, among others. Suit It Up is the brainchild of Franco Ongkingco, who grew up in the suit and formalwear business his mother founded over 40 years ago. Expect great entry-level luxury suits with premium fabrics such as Dormeuil, Holland & Sherry, and Vitale Barberis Canonico.

7| Common Suits Manila

Starts at P38,500

Originating in Singapore, Common Suits arrived in Manila early this year to bring a taste of English tailoring for tropical weather. The shop features a selection of Italian and English fabrics, as well as its house cut, which is designed with large lapel rolls, lowered jacket buttons, and a lean silhouette to make the wearer taller and slimmer. All you need to do is book an appointment at its New Manila store. It will then send your measurements to its Singapore-based tailors and then fly the suit back here when done.
