The Ouroboros is an ancient snake symbol that represents infinity and immortality and is widely believed to be an auspicious sign for good fortune. The mythical serpent with its tail in its mouth, which traces its origins in ancient Egypt and Greece, represents the never-ending process of being reborn from itself.
Iterations of the Ouroboros has since been found in different cultures around the world including the Far East. Today, the symbol also makes an appearance in a new limited-edition timepiece from G-Shock to usher in the Year of the Wood Snake.

New Casio G-Shock for Chinese New Year
The GST-B400CX-1A from G-Shock’s G-Steel series is a festive blend of metal and resin that remixes ancient iconography with new-school flair. Inspired by the Ouroboros, the watch is based on the slim profile of the GST-B400 and features the mythical snake in its motif. A silver metal bezel, classic black dial, and classy gold accents give the timepiece the versatility to take on both formal and casual settings.
Intricate snake patterns on the side buttons and components at the three and nine o’clock positions pay tribute to 2025’s character from the Chinese Zodiac. An engraving of the Ouroboros can also be found on the watch’s case back to symbolize the limitless potential and prosperity we all hope for in the coming New Year.
The limited release also boasts a couple of innovations, including Bluetooth connectivity for high level functionality as well as solar power technology that significantly reduces power consumption by optimizing energy efficiency. It has large stainless-steel buttons for easier use while the resin band, silver case, and eye-catching bezel finish give it a textured aesthetic.
As a Chinese New Year treat, the Japan-based watch brand are also offering Fukubukuro bags both online and in physical stores for P9,990 each. Similar to blind boxes, these bags are a Japanese holiday tradition and contains a surprise inside, including special models like the GST-B400CX or other Casio timepieces worth P16,000 to P26,000 in value. The Fukubukuro bags are available until stocks last.
