For over 40 years, the Casio G-Shock has helped the world define just what exactly toughness is. Its creator Mr. Ibe set out to build an unbreakable watch in 1983 and since its launch, G-Shock has defied conventional watchmaking logic by producing watches that can resist gravity, freezing temperatures, high water pressure and magnetic fields.

During its 35th anniversary back in 2018, the brand announced it had sold over 100 million watches in over 100 countries. Built to last forever, G-Shock’s constant pursuit of toughness is the reason behind its continuing success and the brand is not about to stop now.

Celebrating toughness with its ongoing Tough Like You campaign, G-Shock recently unveiled the G-Steel GM-2110D Series. Let’s start off by addressing the elephant in the room: most noticeable is how the watch ditches the usual rubber strap we are all used to and as a result, gives it a more mature vibe, going all-steel this time around. The new metallic aesthetic successfully blends strength with sleekness, giving the cult classic a much modern and dressier remix, perfect for the generation that was raised with the brand. At some point, ‘90s kids do have to grow up and start dressing their age.

Engineered for durability, the GM-2110D Metal Series has a shock-resistant structure housed in a forged and polished octagonal stainless-steel bezel, which blends hairline and mirror finishes. G-Shock’s world-famous resilience and shock absorption is fortified by strength from within via a glass fiber-reinforced resin inner case.

The GM-2110D Series is packed with features, half of which we’re pretty sure you won’t even find the time to use, such as a versatile analog-digital display, a 1/100-second stopwatch, five daily alarms, and a double LED light that can help you effortlessly tell the time in the dark. The watch also has 20-bar water resistance, which means it can withstand water pressure from depths of over 660 feet.

G-Shock really wasn’t kidding when it said these watches are tough, but what sets this series apart is the versatility it offers for both laid-back settings and days when you need to dress up a bit. The brand’s trademark durability meets the elegance of Japanese craftsmanship for a refreshing new interpretation of the G-Shock in this brand-new timepiece.

The GM-2110D comes in five colorways—sky blue, navy, lime green, orange and silver—and features a shiny IP finish that’s a product of advanced metal plating and color-coating. Marking the first time a model in the GM-2100 line features a band made of metal, the inset dial rings, which also have the same metallic finish, add contrast for a super classy three-dimensional look.

Overall, the GM-2110D is a great-looking timepiece that delivers everything you would expect from a G-Shock. It takes you back to your childhood when you first put one on and celebrates how far the watch—and you—have come.
