Toyota Reigns As the Most Googled Car Brand in the Philippines
There's a running joke that whatever street you're on in the Philippines, there's likely a Toyota nearby. Filipinos love the affordable, reliable car brand, which is why we're not surprised to find out that it's legit the most popular brand in the country.
This is according to Picodi.com's research team that looked at Google searches of 64 car brands between 2017 and 2021. the study found that Filipinos were searching Toyota over any other car brand. It's important to note that Picodi's research reports popularity in terms of interest and not car sales.
The Philippines isn't alone in our love for all things Toyota. Other countries in the region that favor Toyota the most are: Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Bunei, Taiwan, and Papa New Guinea. Meanwhile, BMW is the most popular brand in Japan, India, Mongolia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Pakistan, South Korea, and Sri Lanka.
Honda reigns in Bangladesh and Vietnam, while Lamborghini is popular in Bhutan, Cambodia, and Nepal. Despite being notably younger than other car brands on the list, electric car brand Tesla is the most popular car searched in the much wealthier markets of China, Hong Kong, and Singapore.
