Rose Leslie Owns The Scottish Castle Where She Married Game of Thrones' Kit Harington
In the U.K., castle weddings are quite typical, thanks to the abundance of medieval structures. Many wealthy landowners have also chosen to turn these properties into wedding venues, hotels, and bed and breakfasts to fund maintenance costs and other expenses.
But this wasn’t the case for Game of Thrones stars Kit Harington and Rose Leslie’s wedding. The newlyweds had their wedding at Wardhill Castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland—a castle that’s been owned by Rose Leslie’s family for almost 900 years.
Leslie’s father is the chieftain of Aberdeenshire clan Leslie while her mother is a descendant of King Charles II. The Leslie clan has owned several castles over the centuries namely Leslie Castle, Warthill House, Leslie House, Rothes Castle, Fetternear Palace, Balgonie Castle, Ballinbreich Castle, and Castle Leslie. In 2013, Lickleyhead Castle, the castle where Leslie grew up was put on sale for £1.35 million.
