These Paintings Were Amazingly Made Using Squid Ink

Marvin Tiberio describes himself as a squid ink artist. He makes use of squid ink as the base for his paintings, but also makes use of other natural pigments in food ingredients such as turmeric powder, atsuete (annatto), and petals from the ternate flower.

Traditional oil paints are quite expensive, which is one of the reasons why Tiberio uses organic pigments for his artworks.

“I attempted to study fine arts, but I quit. The tools are too expensive and very consumable, I even skip lunch in order to buy materials. But the main reason for quitting is that God called me for pastoral ministry. Since then I didn’t think of painting again. It was not until 2013 when a missionary visitor encouraged me to paint again,” said Tiberio in an interview with Art Plus Magazine.
