Jericho Rosales Will Headline an International Prison Series for Streaming Market

The upcoming TV prison series Sellblock has found its lead star. Jericho Rosales will headline the cast of the series which is being produced by ABS-CBN and BlackOps Studios Asia, according to Hollywood trade platform Variety

Sellblock is an action drama series set in prison that is part of a slate of genre films and series produced by BlackOps and its creative partner Psyops8. BlackOps partnered with Story Arch Pictures from the U.S. and Agog Film from Hong Kong to produce a total of 16 titles intended for the streaming market. Nine of those titles are films while seven are TV series. ABS-CBN came onboard to co-produce Sellblock with BlackOps.

Other actors joining Rosales in the cast of Sellblock are Tirso Cruz III, Cherry Pie Picache, Ronnie Lazaro, Rosanna Roces, Mon Confiado, and RK Bagatsing.

“ABS-CBN is excited to announce that Sellblock will be headlined by our very own Jericho Rosales,” Variety quoted Ruel S. Bayani, head of ABS-CBN international production and co-production. “In his nearly three decade-long career Jericho has earned the title of ‘Asian drama king’ and is one of our network’s finest homegrown talents and country’s top leading men. We are thrilled for this opportunity to showcase Filipino talent on the global stage.”

The upcoming project is also supported by the Film Development Council of the Philippines.

The full lineup of titles produced by BlackOps, Story Arch Pictures, and Agog is expected to be unveiled this week during the European Film Market, which is the online companion to the Berlin Film Festival.

According to Pedring Lopez, who heads BlackOps, three of the titles will be shot in Hong Kong, on in the U.K., and the others between the Philippines and Indonesia. One of the projects called Noriko, a Hong Kong-set zombie film, will shoot exteriors in Hong Kong and will move to the Philippines for interiors and studio work, according to Variety.
